The Last Run Of 2021

The weather here last week was exceptionally warm for this time of year so a ride was in order. I needed a haircut so I would look presentable for the holidays and made an appointment at the local Hair Cutters. To get there I fired up the newest addition to the fleet, my Dongfang 170cc. It is getting looser all the time and even at just over 300 miles it is becoming very tempting to run it harder. I just keep reminding myself that a mistake now will bite me in the butt later on.
The ride down to Poughkeepsie was fun but brief at just under six miles. The speed limits on the local roads help keep the scooter at an agreeable speed so I'm not stressing it. Despite the trees and plant life being in Winter drab the scenery around here is quite nice. Add in the warm temperatures and the riding was very pleasant. The person cutting my hair did an extraordinary job and took her time doing it so I look better than when I went in.
This past year was a great deal of fun and I got to use all my bikes in some capacity or another. Americade was pretty much the high point and the big Kawasaki was the best choice for the job. The new scooter has been good fun and reminded me of why I wanted a small scooter in the fleet. My 250 Honda never fails to delight and punches outside of its weight class with ease. The CF Moto also served me well despite one mechanical ailment and still runs like new. Biggest surprise was the fifty dollar saddlebags that I bought for the Kawasaki to use at Americade. Being able to load them with clothes and other essentials, then put them on the bike and carry them into the hotel was very convenient. They came through totally well and are waiting for the next trip in the house.
If this was the last ride of 2021 it was a nice way to end the year. Hopefully I won't be experiencing any health issues next Spring and will be doing even more rides in 2022. Americade in June will be the high point.
