As a general rule the Hudson Valley Biker Network holds a Bike Night around the middle of April. This year was no different. We enjoyed a few days of Summer-like weather this past week and it was a great time to hold the event. I pondered which motorcycle or scooter to take and decided to take the CF Moto 250cc scooter. It could use a run and was next on the list to be moved. It worked well.
It has pained me the last couple of weeks to fill the two wheeled vehicles, even at their small capacities, since the price of fuel is up by over a dollar per gallon more than previously, but it had to be done. The rest of the trip to Kingston went quickly and the scooter just hummed along. The restaurant that the event is staged at is adjacent to Rondout Creek. Calling it a creek at that location is misleading. It's deeper and wider than the Delaware River near where I used to live which was only half as wide at that point.
The event gave me a chance to catch up with people I haven't seen since October. Conversations about the upcoming season allowed us to shake off the dust of Winter hibernation and the sounds of motorcycles in the air gave made it feel like June.
After talking to everyone I headed home and enjoyed the warm air and the wind in my face. As a starting point to the season this was a great event and I later learned that ninety motorcycles had shown up. There's more to come and hopefully each event will share the fabulous weather.
