I'm Back

June 13, 2017
I know it's been a while since I was last here but life has gotten in the way. I have ridden a few times but my two wheeled fleet has been pretty idle. Linda is battling a few health issues and we have seen several doctors as a result. I have not been faithful to his blog as a result. We're hoping for some relief and resolution soon.

We have been burning up miles in the minivan fiercely lately. We commute back to Deposit to do yard work and to spruce up the place in hopes of finding a buyer. As a result we carry weed whacker, chain saw and other tools which fit in the minivan handily. Besides that it's pretty comfortable and giving us good fuel mileage. One of the assists that has made life easier is my stepson Phil doing mowing on one of the lawn tractors. Especially in this prime time of grass growing. He has also helped with any heavy lifting I might have to do.

Beyond that I have only been out a few times on the bikes. Last night I finally dragged out the big Kawasaki for the first time this year. I bought ice cream. Hopefully more writing will come.

Busy Times

April 12, 2017
I know I haven't been keeping up with this blog so please forgive me. We have had a medical issue bite us in the butt so my schedule has been thrown off. Even still Linda and I have been making trips to Deposit to continue emptying the house and straightening it up a little each trip so it would be presentable to potential buyers.
I have had a chance the last couple of weeks to get out on the Honda Rebel. It's always good to feel the wind as I ride. Trips have been short since I don't like to ...

I Hate Winter

March 26, 2017
In case you were spared the scourge we were hit hard by storm Stella and my bikes have been parked. In addition we have health issues to deal with so riding has been curtailed. I recently wrote about using my snow blower and how it substituted for riding. Let me tell you, Stella tested my machine. We received over two feet of white stuff and the new snow blower even chewed into drifts higher than itself.
How bad was it here? My smallest Yorkie was in snow over her head until I dug a run. Phoeb...

Finally A Warm Day

February 23, 2017
I have been waiting for this weather for weeks. It's 67 degrees outside and my fleet of bikes have been waiting patiently for the weather to change. I was out briefly yesterday on the small scooter for a short shopping trip and it felt marvelous. Today was even better.
The Dodge minivan needed a headlight bulb changed and we fortunately have a NAPA nearby. After following the instructions on how to remove it on Youtube I hopped on the scooter and scurried into Pleasant Valley to buy a replacem...

What Amuses Me Now

January 27, 2017
I won't deny it. What I hate most about Winter is being cooped up in the house. Snow. ice and salt on the roads keep my bikes locked inside for long periods of time. The only thing I have these days is my snow blower. Last year I resolved that I wouldn't keep beating up on the little snow blower in my garage with hours long work on my driveway and mail ordered a bigger snow blower from Home Depot.
My last snow blower was more suited to work in a suburb than it was for a hundred foot long, twe...

A Better Year

January 16, 2017
After a disastrous 2015 this past year was incredibly better. Linda and I reunited for the first time in 45 years, re-forged a friendship that grew and led to marriage and had us join households. We welcomed the birth of a grand daughter and celebrated many happy occasions. A pretty fabulous wedding day too, if I say so myself.

We moved to a new place in Hyde Park from both directions, Linda from Danbury and me from Deposit. The move has had its bumps and starts but things are settling down. W...

Season of Family Happenings

January 4, 2017
I wish I could put all of the events that occurred these past couple of weeks into a short movie but it would take too long. Linda and I traveled several hundred miles to family gatherings spanning highways between Hyde Park, Long Island and Plymouth, Massachusetts. First up was a visit to Linda's son, Tim, and his house the night before Christmas Eve where the family gathered to exchange presents. Five of Linda's Grandchildren delighted in opening presents and seeing the toys and gifts. Wrap...

Christmas Decorating

December 20, 2016
As I noted in the last installment a little bit of Christmas activity has been rolling through the house. Initially the tree was assembled and a string of lights was hung on the porch. Since then more lights have been added to the porch, bows have been hung and a wreath placed on the front door. The new Christmas tree hasn't escaped notice either. Ornaments and candy canes have been strewn about the branches giving it a Happy Holiday look.
As the days have gone by Linda and I have been out buy...

Christmas Is Coming

December 7, 2016
As most of you are aware Christmas is just around the corner. Linda is a true fan of the day and has begun to pull out decorations to spruce the place up for the Holidays. Down in the basement are several tubs of wreaths, bows, lights and ornaments. I went out last week to a local Nursery to purchase twenty-five yards of pine roping that is now wrapped around the railing on our front porch. Lights, a wreath and bows will follow.
Ironically, we went to KMart last night to purchase a new, pre-li...

Thanksgiving

November 28, 2016
I hope everyone had as good a Thanksgiving as Linda and I did. For the first time in a long time I was part of a team effort to entertain family on this festive day. We stocked up on necessary items for the gala the weekend before with a heavy hitting trip to ShopRite and other stores. We cleaned the house and Linda dusted. The night before Linda peeled potatoes and I mopped the kitchen. Clutter was put in order and the turkey was stuffed.
Thanksgiving day saw her son Tim and family arrive wit...
