A New Year

Quite a bit has happened since I last came here. The worst news is that my faithful Black Lab, Phoebe, has passed away. She had a tumor that choked off organs and we had to put her down. She was my little warrior and went peacefully at the end. At only ten years of age she should have had many more years but disease took her.
The holidays were very busy for us. Linda and I visited Long Island several times and had welcome visits with family. The traffic there is horrendous but we survived. We also saw Linda's children and grand children over Christmas. The kids love the holidays and getting presents is a plus. We have had fairly mild weather and only one snowstorm the week before Thanksgiving. My snow blower has been inactive for the most part but January is here so hold on. I'm sure I'll be using it regularly in the coming weeks.
I have been visiting my motorcycles as much as I can and start the big scooter weekly. Otherwise it will be a project to get it going in the Spring.
Everyone have a good year in 2019 and hopefully it will be one remembered fondly when it's through.

Bad Weather

While I have been working at Kmart more than ever in the last month, the weather has kept me off the bikes. There has been more rain than anyone can remember and if it isn't raining it's been seasonably cold. Every day I'm looking forward to a ride the weather isn't cooperating. All I can do is visit the bikes and promise not to forget them.

Further Adventures

It has been many years since I rode in an organized motorcycle event and recently I did a good one. We had seen signs around the area advertising a charity motorcycle event in Poughkeepsie and I had decided I would do it. All Kinds Of News

This past week we had the Parents here with us for a few days. The house in Levittown was in need of some work that required that Mom and Dad be out of the place. They arrived on Thursday and we had a barbecue for lunch to mark the occasion. Riding Season

There were two notable events in the past week. I reawakened a slumbering member of the fleet and a bicycle ride in Town.

I'm Back

July 3, 2018
Right after I posted my last entry Linda and I got tremor causing news. My ninety plus year old parents had been dancing their customory Lindy (a dance from the Dark Ages) for their Senior Group at a Long Island restaurant. In short, they tangled feet and Mom went crashing to the floor, breaking her hip. We rushed down the next morning for the surgery to repair her joint and arrived right after its completion. She survived the surgery and was sent to a rehab facility three days later.

A Really Busy time

May 25, 2018
I finally finished getting the Honda Nighthawk inspected and legal. Now comes the fun part, riding it. The bike has led a challenging life and many parts of it show. The engine runs with gusto and is a tribute to Honda's engineering staff. I've already had one offer to buy it. It looks and sounds quite sporty.

Almost Done

I bought the 250 Honda Nighthawk over two years ago and nursed it back to health. This past Sunday I installed a new front brake switch and now the brake light glows when I pull the lever. The last step is finally upon me, getting it inspected. Everything is now up to snuff and it should breeze through easily. Of all the bikes in the fleet the Honda is the one that may stay the longest. It fits me well, it's not heavy and gets good gas mileage. I love the big Kawasaki and its horsepower but m...

Spring Is Almost Here

After several snowstorms warmer weather is finally coming. I still may not be riding again soon since April Showers are on the horizon but better days are coming. I still only have been visiting the bikes in the garage but they will be venturing forth soon. My driveway is finally clear of snow so when the temperature and conditions allow I'll be off and riding.

Tired Of Winter

I'm sitting here waiting for tomorrow's latest Nor'easter and wondering how hard my snowblower will have to work clearing the driveway. The worst one of the three we've had in the past three weeks left thirteen inches of white stuff on my walk and driveway. While I usually have a good time watching the machine hurl snow it's getting a little tedious removing it with such regularity.
