Finally. A Ride With The Group

After doing battle with a "Health Adventure" I finally felt good enough to get out on a group motorcycle ride last week. There was a benefit ride out of Moroney's Harley Davidson in New Windsor, NY. The proceeds went to Look Twice-Save a Life a group promoting motorcycle awareness among the general public. It was one of the first really hot days in May and I was really feeling it. As a result of how I was feeling I took the 250 Nighthawk since it's the lightest and easiest to ride among the herd.

As you can see in the above video it was quite well attended. It was a nice day, the advertising for it was extensive and Moroney's in a good position to attract both upstate and downstate riders. One notable group that attended was the Yonkers Motorcycle Club. Their club was established in 1903 on the heels of being a Bicycle Club established in 1879. I was once a member of a Club on Long Island that was established in 1931 and we felt like newcomers by comparison.
The ride itself was very short and we were back within an hour. Normally I would find that a little too brief but given my level of recovery it was just right. I hung around for a brief period but the food lines and hot sun were more than I could take so I hopped on the bike for a pleasant ride home. Overall the two of us did just fine. Given the massive displacement between the Honda and the next smallest machine I was happy to be in nobody's way the whole day and we didn't feel any strain during the entire trip. Another ride is coming up and I will have to pull names out of a hat to see which bike goes that day.
The next day, with my heart in my throat, I registered the new scooter at DMV. A description of that would take many paragraphs but everything turned out fine in the end and the new addition is carrying a plate and inspection sticker. It's ready for adventure and the stories will be here for all to see.
