As member of the Hudson Valley Biker Network on Facebook I get to see announcements of upcoming rides and Bike Nights. Imagine my happiness when one occurred four miles from home. A new drinking establishment opened last year in the same building where I had my motorcycles serviced and it was chosen for one of the Pop Up Bike Nights this Summer. Since it was a really nice night weather-wise and so close I attended. Being so near I chose the most suitable bike for the job, in this case the 250cc Nighthawk.
I arrived about a half hour after it had begun and was sort of, but not really, surprised at the turnout at that time. Beyond my ability to sort and count I quick estimated between 60 and 80 motorcycles in the small area set aside for the motorcycles. A DJ was playing and people were stepping inside and coming out of the Bar in a steady stream. I opted to step into a Pizza restaurant a few doors down for a Caffeine free Diet Coke to comfort myself in the warm evening temperatures. From there I strolled through the area taking in the various brands and models of motorcycles. There were quite a few different types beyond the big road going cruisers and it was gratifying to see people who enjoyed their rides.
I spent about an hour strolling, observing, video recording, photographing and chatting before taking my leave. After the event the previous Sunday I was fairly happy to be part of the scene and will probably attend a couple more Bike Nights before the Summer ends. Even the short ride home was rewarding which added to the evening's event for me.
