As many of you are aware, this has been a heck of a Winter. We had one snow storm just before Christmas that dropped about fourteen inches of snow on the ground and a lot of cold after that.Early February saw a few flurrys and suddenly, just after the Superbowl, all heck broke loose. In short my snow blower has been on the driveway about eight times since the beginning of the month. Since we moved here it only saw action about three or four times in a Winter. While there is another snow in the offing tomorrow, warmer weather has been promised for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully the eighteen inches of snow laying about the yard will begin to disappear.
What this has meant is that the only time the bikes have been started is for the weekly startup to warm up the batteries and move fuel through the carburetors. At this time last year I recall doing short trips on both the big scooter and the Kawasaki. No such luck this year. Besides the snow the streets are just as white as my lawn with road salt. I made the mistake of riding a couple of times with road salt about and was rewarded with nasty rust on a few surfaces that never recovered. I'm hoping that we get some rain in March and the roads will be clear enough to venture forth.
The only really good news to report is that Linda and I have received both Covid vaccine doses. It has been two weeks since the second dose so theoretically we should been covered. Neither of us will be taking chances though and will continue to wear masks and avoid large crowds. We're waiting to see if getting Covid shots annually becomes reality or if we are covered for life. Time will tell.
So stay safe and hope that spring brings better weather. As someone in my past used to say, "Better days are coming".
