This past few weeks have been both busy and non eventful so I don't have much to report on the two wheeled front. I missed about three motorcycle events due to weather and social commitments. I will be going to Americade in Lake George next week so a good story is forthcoming. In the meantime I soldier on riding the usual suspects, less one.
Last week I went to replace the muffler on the big scooter when I noticed something looked amiss in the rear axle. In a word two bearings completely failed and shed all the balls leaving one end unsupported. As if that wasn't bad enough the interior of the bearings all but welded themselves onto the axle. In attempting to remove the parts I have run into a brick wall. Three options await. Either I call in the local shop to remove it or I continue beating my head against the wall. If I give it up all I can do is be grateful for the years of enjoyment it has given me and send it off to the scrap yard. I'll let you know.
In the meantime the other three members of the fleet have given me several moments of fun. The new little scooter is breaking in nicely and has been behaving while the two motorcycles are being the picture of reliability. I will be taking the big Kawasaki to Lake George as it's best suited for highway usage and very comfortable for long runs. If something develops I still have the Honda as backup.
I plan on taking video so you'll have something to look forward to. See you next time.
